Illini 4000

Illini 4000 is a student-run nonprofit organization based at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Operating as a 501(c)3, the organization has 12 employees and generates approximately $2.5 million in annual revenue. Each summer, Illini 4000 organizes a cross-country bicycle ride with a group of students. The primary goals of this ride are to raise funds for cancer research and patient support services, increase awareness about the fight against cancer, and collect interviews with individuals impacted by cancer. These interviews, known as "Portraits," are compiled into the Portraits Project. Illini 4000's mission is to document the American cancer experience, raise funds for cancer research and patient support services, and spread awareness for the fight against cancer through annual cross-country bike rides.
