Hazard Reduction Recovery Center

The Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center (HRRC) is a research center located in College Station, Texas. Established in 1988 at Texas A&M University, HRRC employs 13 individuals and generates an annual revenue of $50 million. HRRC researchers specialize in hazard analysis, emergency preparedness and response, disaster recovery, and hazard mitigation. Their expertise encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including architecture, planning, sociology, policy analysis, economics, landscape architecture, and engineering. HRRC is dedicated to advancing our understanding of hazards and their impact on humans and the built environment. The center aims to enhance hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies. Through graduate student training, faculty development, and educational programs, HRRC strives to expand the hazard research community. HRRC actively disseminates its research findings to both the academic and professional communities, empowering practitioners to effectively mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. The center also provides consultation and assistance to state, national, and international agencies involved in hazard analysis, emergency preparedness, and disaster management.
