Hawaii International Film Festival

Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) is a non-profit organization based in Honolulu, Hawaii, with 25 employees. HIFF is a leading film festival showcasing international cinematic achievements, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. HIFF focuses on promoting new talent and fostering collaborations through its film programming. The festival features a diverse selection of films, including features, documentaries, and shorts from Asia made by Asian filmmakers, films about the Pacific made by Pacific Islanders, and films by Hawaii filmmakers that accurately represent Hawaiian culture. Each year, HIFF programmers review approximately 1,000 films, selecting around 150 for screening. These include world premieres, North American premieres, U.S. premieres, experimental films, animation, and digital works addressing social and ethnic issues, as well as first features by emerging directors. Beyond film screenings, HIFF offers seminars, workshops, and special award presentations, providing a platform for interaction and learning with top Asian, Pacific, and North American filmmakers.
