Guardian Project

Guardian Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Oakland, California. As a small organization with three employees, Guardian is dedicated to making a significant impact on the lives of underserved youth. Founded in 2014 by Ben Kovacs and Joel Lunenfeld, the organization operates with a mission to provide free youth jiu jitsu scholarships. Guardian Project's primary focus is providing free youth jiu jitsu scholarships to children around the world. The program aims to offer year-round stability and consistency to the participants, emphasizing both physical development through martial arts training and the cultivation of positive social skills. Beyond the physical benefits of jiu jitsu, Guardian Project strives to create a supportive environment where children can develop strong friendships, benefit from mentorship opportunities, and find security during challenging periods in their lives.
