GleanKY

GleanKY is a charitable organization located in Lexington, Kentucky. Founded in 2010, the organization is comprised of a dedicated team of four employees. GleanKY focuses on addressing hunger in Central Kentucky by collecting excess fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be wasted. These rescued foods are then carefully sorted, processed, and distributed to various organizations fighting hunger, including food banks, emergency food agencies, and neighborhood ambassadors. Since its inception, GleanKY has achieved significant milestones, collecting over 1,000,000 pounds of produce. Their efforts rely heavily on volunteers, with 418 individuals contributing their time in 2015 alone.
