Gibbon Conservation Center

The Gibbon Conservation Center (GCC) is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Clarita, California. Founded in 1976, the GCC is a small organization with 5 to 9 employees. The GCC generates revenue of $2.5 million annually. The GCC is dedicated to the conservation of gibbons through public education, habitat preservation, scientific research, and the advancement of gibbon care practices. They house the rarest collection of gibbons in the Western Hemisphere, including all four genera. The GCC has successfully bred seven gibbon species and participates in Species Survival Plans (SSPs). The GCC distinguishes itself as the only institution globally to house and breed all four genera of gibbons. They provide specialized consulting services to zoos, museums, government agencies, and individual scientists on gibbon identification and care. Additionally, the GCC actively supports gibbon rescue programs in various countries, including Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and India.
