Garnet Black Magazine

Garnet & Black Magazine (G&B) is a student-run publication based in Columbia, South Carolina. Founded in 1994, the magazine was formed by merging the university's former yearbook and literary magazine. G&B is a quarterly publication with a staff of 17 employees. The magazine focuses on issues of general interest to the Carolina community, with a particular emphasis on diversity, arts & culture, and social justice. G&B features student-created content, including articles, photography, and page design. The publication is distributed free of charge to various locations within the Carolina community, and subscriptions are available for $10 per year for those outside of Columbia. G&B actively seeks contributions from students, offering a platform for underrepresented voices and welcoming submissions of flash fiction, poetry, and blog content. The magazine is currently recruiting students for editorial, photo, design, videography, and social media positions.
