Fundação Romão de Sousa Casa de Alba

The Romão de Sousa Foundation, operating as Casa de Alba, is a non-profit organization based in Portugal. The Foundation is a “IPSS - Instituição Privada de Solidariedade Social” (Private Institution of Social Solidarity) recognized by the Ministry of Health and Social Security as “Pessoa Colectiva de Utilidade Pública” (Institution for Public Benefit). Casa de Alba provides therapeutic services to individuals suffering from severe mental health problems, particularly schizophrenia. Their therapeutic community offers a range of psychological therapies and psychosocial activities, including group psychotherapy, multifamily therapy, psychiatric consultation, pharmacological treatment, sports activities, expressive therapies, and outdoor activities such as horseback riding, horticultural therapy, and walking. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life, autonomy, and social integration of its clients. In addition to direct services, Casa de Alba actively participates in research, collaborating with institutions in Portugal and internationally to advance therapeutic models and interventions.
