Friends of the Los Angeles River

Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. With a team of 27 employees, FoLAR has been dedicated to restoring community connection to the Los Angeles River for over three decades. FoLAR's mission is to educate, empower, and mobilize Angelenos to repair habitat and advocate for policies that will reclaim the right to a healthy, thriving, and equitably accessible LA River. They have engaged over 50,000 individuals in their efforts. FoLAR works with communities, students, and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate, and equity on the Los Angeles River. FoLAR envisions a verdant Los Angeles River that supports vulnerable communities in climate adaptation. They strive to transform the river into a dynamic, functioning ecosystem that reduces flood risk, cleans the air, cools temperatures, and supports biodiversity essential to collective well-being.
