Friends of the GardenAerial

Friends of the GardenAerial (FOG) is a non-profit organization based in Rochester, New York. Established in March 2011, FOG is dedicated to the sustainable redevelopment of Rochester's High Falls District. The organization envisions transforming this former industrial area into an EcoDistrict, a hub for green innovation, sustainability, tourism, and recreation. FOG's mission focuses on revitalizing the High Falls area, which is characterized by a 96-foot waterfall cascading into the Genesee River Gorge. This natural asset, previously inaccessible to the community and dominated by industries, presents an opportunity for redevelopment. FOG's proposed plans include the transformation of the Pont de Rennes pedestrian bridge into a two-story Bridgehouse, the construction of an indoor winter botanical garden and pavilion, and the creation of a network of outdoor gardens featuring art installations, seating areas, and a new pedestrian bridge spanning High Falls and the Genesee River. This bridge would contribute to a 3/4-mile-long aerial public park, connecting the area to downtown Rochester's Center City along the river's edge for the first time.
