Who is Foodicons
Foodicons is a global initiative based in the United States dedicated to developing a universal language of food icons. The project is comprised of a team of three employees. Foodicons hosts a challenge inviting designers from around the world to create a shared, open-source collection of royalty-free food icons. These icons aim to increase food literacy and transparency within the food system. The challenge is co-sponsored by prominent organizations including The Lexicon, Adobe, The Noun Project, and AIGA. Monthly design challenges focus on crucial themes within the food system, such as agrobiodiversity, climate change, food waste, and regenerative agriculture. Designers adhere to a style guide created specifically for the challenge by Adobe and submit icon designs for a wide range of terms, encompassing both fundamental elements like water and rice, and complex concepts like no-till farming and plant-forward diets. For more information about the Foodicons Challenge and how to participate, visit their website at http://www.foodicons.org.
