Food Forward

Food Forward is a charity based in North Hollywood, California, with 47 employees. They are dedicated to reducing food waste and increasing access to fresh produce. Food Forward recovers excess fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be discarded from various sources, including backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets, and the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. They distribute 100% of the rescued produce to hunger relief agencies serving 13 California counties, as well as seven neighboring states and tribal lands. Their mission is to create a future where everyone has access to fresh, healthy food. Food Forward focuses on addressing the issue of food waste, which according to the NRDC, amounts to up to 40% of all food produced in the United States, while simultaneously addressing food insecurity, which affects one in five California households.
