Farm Share Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit food pantry based in Homestead, Florida. Established in 1991, the organization employs 25 people and generates annual revenue of $15.2 million. Farm Share operates as a state-wide organization, impacting communities across Florida. Farm Share's mission is to alleviate hunger by recovering, sorting, packing, and distributing fresh, nutritious food to those in need. They provide a combination of fresh produce, USDA commodities, and other donated foods to low-income families and partner non-profit agencies. These agencies include church food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and community centers throughout Florida. Since its inception, Farm Share has become one of the largest food recovery operations in the nation, recovering and distributing nearly 320 million pounds of nutritious food valued at over $694 million. They achieve this by working directly with Florida farmers and food-related businesses, providing a donation tax credit of up to 200% of the food's market value. This unique approach allows Farm Share to serve more of Florida's impoverished areas, both rural and urban, without passing on costs to their partner agencies.
