District Department of Transportation

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is a government agency based in Washington, District of Columbia. Employing 500 people, DDOT is responsible for improving the transportation infrastructure and services within the District of Columbia. DDOT manages and maintains a variety of transportation assets, including streets, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, traffic signals, and streetlights. They are also responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining these features. Additionally, the department works to improve traffic flow throughout the District and partners with the Department of Public Works to remove snow and ice from streets. DDOT also plays a key role in coordinating the District's mass transit services, including a reduced-fare program for students using MetroBus and MetroRail. With a budget exceeding $1 billion annually, DDOT strives to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors by ensuring safe and efficient movement of people, goods, and information within the District.
