Dickerson Park Zoo Springfield MO is a non-profit organization located in Springfield, Missouri. The zoo employs 40 people and generates approximately $50 million in annual revenue. Established in 1922, the zoo is home to over 500 animals representing 160 different species. Dickerson Park Zoo offers visitors a chance to encounter animals from around the world. The zoo is dedicated to four key objectives: education, recreation, conservation, and research. The zoo's education department provides classes for children ages 2-15 and also conducts outreach programs at local schools, retirement homes, and daycare centers. The zoo actively participates in Species Survival Plans for various species, including Asian elephants, maned wolves, and cheetahs. Dickerson Park Zoo collaborates with numerous organizations on conservation efforts, including the Zoo Conservation Outreach Group, Flamingo Conservation Program, Andean Bear & Condor Conservation Program, SaveNature.org, Cheetah Conservation Foundation, Madagascar Fauna Group, Sri Lanka Elephant Project, International Elephant Foundation, Carnivore Conservation Project, Missouri State University research, El Valla Amphibian Conservation Center, Conservation Breeding Specialist Group, Turtle Survival Alliance, Sahara Conservation Fund, Mountain Bongo Project, Marianna Avifauna Conservation Program, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Tiger Conservation Campaign, and Grizzly Bear Conservation.
