Who is Cultural Academy For Excellence
The Cultural Academy for Excellence (CAFE) is a 501©3 non-profit corporation based in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Founded in 1996 with a grant from the Kaiser Permanente Building Hope Foundation, CAFE is led by Founder and Executive Director Lorna Green, a dedicated Board of Directors, and a team of professional educators, parents, and community leaders. CAFE offers two main programs: the Saturday Academy and the After School Academy, designed for youth ages 6 to 18, regardless of their background. The organization is renowned for its comprehensive steel pan program, considered one of the most extensive on the East Coast. The "Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra," led by experienced instructors and musicians, is highly acclaimed and has performed both nationally and internationally.
