Cornell Baja Racing

Cornell Baja SAE Racing is an engineering project team based in Ithaca, New York, comprised of 27 students. The team focuses on designing, building, and racing off-road vehicles to compete in the SAE Collegiate Baja Design Series. Each year, Cornell Baja engages 40 students in a hands-on learning experience that brings engineering concepts to life. The team's annual project involves a rigorous three-stage design review process: Preliminary Review, Critical Review, and Final Review. This ensures thorough evaluation and refinement of the design. Simultaneously, they modify older vehicles to test new designs and innovations. During the build phase, the team emphasizes continuous improvement, redesigning even the smallest components to enhance performance and efficiency. Cornell Baja Racing adheres to strict safety guidelines and standardized rules while balancing design, cost, and dynamic performance. The team competes annually in three North American competitions against 100 other collegiate teams. The competitions feature both static and dynamic events, testing various aspects of the vehicle's design and capabilities.
