Columbia Theatre

The Columbia Theatre is a historic performing arts venue located in Longview, Washington. As a non-profit organization, the Columbia Theatre is owned by the City of Longview. With a dedicated team of nine employees, the theatre has generated $2.5 million in revenue. The Columbia Theatre offers a stage for a variety of performances, having transitioned from its initial role as a vaudeville theatre in the 1920s to a movie theatre until the mid-1980s. The theatre's history is steeped in resilience, having been saved from demolition in the wake of the Mount St. Helens eruption in 1980. This event paused plans to tear down the building and create a parking lot, allowing a task force led by Virginia Rubin to secure its preservation. Today, the Columbia Theatre stands as a testament to community spirit and is recognized on the National Historic Registry.
