College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology

The College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) is a research center located in Riverside, California. With 19 employees, CE-CERT is the largest research center on its campus, bringing together diverse disciplines to tackle environmental challenges. CE-CERT's research focuses on leveraging technology for environmental sustainability. Their projects span various areas, including understanding emissions' impact on air quality, developing renewable energy technologies, supporting renewable fuel development and energy management, optimizing vehicle technology and combustion, advancing transportation systems, exploring pollution formation in the atmosphere, and investigating exposure and health impacts. CE-CERT fosters an interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with students from engineering fields like Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as students from the School of Medicine, School of Public Policy, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and the School of Business Administration. The center actively collaborates with industry partners on projects aimed at developing, validating, and improving energy and environmental technologies. They establish pilot-scale demonstration and test beds to assess the viability of new technologies.
