The City of Lomita is a general law city located in Los Angeles County, California. It is a small city with approximately 20,000 residents and a population density concentrated in residential areas, with commercial zones primarily along Pacific Coast Highway, Narbonne Avenue, Lomita Boulevard, and Western Avenue. The city employs 43 full-time staff and approximately 45 part-time staff. The City of Lomita provides essential municipal services to its residents. These include water utility services through its own groundwater well and treatment plant. Law enforcement and fire protection are contracted to Los Angeles County. Lomita strives to maintain a small town atmosphere within the larger Los Angeles metropolitan region. It boasts five parks and a Railroad Museum dedicated to the history of steam engines.
