CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange

CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange is a nonprofit organization based in Portland, Maine. Established in 1947, CIEE is the oldest and largest nonprofit in the United States dedicated to international education and cultural exchange. Employing over 868 individuals, CIEE generates an annual revenue of $500 million. CIEE offers a wide range of programs and services, primarily focused on study abroad and intercultural exchange. They support over 286 study abroad programs for students from 340 U.S. colleges and universities, with 67 study centers located in 45 countries. CIEE also facilitates exchange programs for international students, bringing nearly 35,000 individuals to the United States each year through the U.S. Department of State J-1 Visa program. In addition to study abroad, CIEE provides teach abroad opportunities, international faculty training, and specialized programs for secondary, post-secondary, and international students. In 2015, CIEE introduced its innovative Open Campus model, a flexible academic program allowing students to customize their international experience by studying in multiple locations within a single semester.
