Who is CHREC
CHREC, pronounced "shreck," is a national research center located in Gainesville, Florida. Established in 2007, it is part of the National Science Foundation's Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRC) program, the longest-running program at NSF. CHREC is comprised of over 30 organizations, including academic institutions, industry leaders, and government agencies, all united by a shared interest in reconfigurable, adaptive computing. CHREC's research focuses on developing advanced computing technologies applicable to diverse fields, ranging from satellite systems to supercomputers. Through its four research sites, each hosted by a prominent university with a strong research focus in this area, CHREC fosters collaboration and knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and government. The center's structure allows industry and government partners to contribute to research efforts through memberships, each funding a graduate student position at one of the research sites. This collaborative approach ensures that research outcomes directly benefit participating organizations. For more information, please visit CHREC's website at chrec.org.
