Chicago Debate Commission

Chicago Debates is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois, dedicated to providing debate programming to Chicago Public Schools. Founded in 1995, the organization has grown significantly since its inception. With a team of 9 employees, Chicago Debates has touched the lives of over 14,000 students throughout its history. Chicago Debates primarily focuses on developing and running the Chicago Debate League, a program serving over 1,600 students across 85 middle and high schools. The League has evolved into the largest and most competitive urban debate league in the United States, serving as a model for other urban debate initiatives nationwide. The organization's mission is to empower Chicago youth by equipping them with the skills to find their voice, excel in their academic and professional pursuits, and become active leaders within their communities.
