Charlestown Coalition

The Charlestown Coalition, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is a small organization with three employees. Established in 2004, the Coalition arose from the community's urgent need to address the opioid epidemic and its devastating impact on young people. Over time, the Coalition's scope expanded to encompass a broader range of social determinants of health, including stable housing, access to healthy food, mental health services, and racial equity. The Charlestown Coalition works with over 75 organizations representing all sectors of the community to develop and support programs that promote overall health and well-being. They focus on enhancing youth protective factors, supporting individuals in drug and alcohol recovery, and strengthening families by addressing mental health and basic health needs. The organization's mission is to advance communities and transform lives by bringing about positive change and breaking the cycles of addiction, poverty, violence, and racism.
