Chanticleer

Chanticleer is a Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble based in San Francisco, California, with a team of 40 employees. Founded in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto, Chanticleer has become renowned globally for its diverse repertoire and exceptional vocal virtuosity, earning the moniker "an orchestra of voices." The ensemble's performances range from classical and Renaissance music to gospel, jazz, and popular genres. Chanticleer is deeply committed to commissioning new compositions and arrangements, which are prominently featured in their extensive discography. This dedication has earned them Grammy Awards for recordings of Sir John Tavener's "Lamentations & Praises" and the commissioned work collection "Colors of Love." Beyond their performances, Chanticleer actively engages in education and outreach programs in San Francisco. They also present an annual concert series, including their popular holiday tradition, "A Chanticleer Christmas." The ensemble's commitment to adventurous programming has been recognized with the Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, and their Music Director Emeritus, Joseph H.
