Central Islip Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps

Central Islip Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a volunteer-based ambulance service located in Central Islip, New York. The organization employs eleven people and has been in operation since 1955. CIHVA provides pre-hospital emergency healthcare to the communities of Central Islip, Hauppauge, the Village of Islandia, and the Hauppauge Industrial Park. They respond to over 5,000 calls for medical assistance annually. The service is staffed by volunteer EMTs, EMT-CCs, and paramedics who maintain a minimum of six hours of in-house duty each week. In addition to volunteers, CIHVA employs a staff of EMTs, EMT-CCs, and paramedics who provide two ambulances and a paramedic response truck. CIHVA offers its volunteer members a variety of benefits, including free training in AHA, EMT/CC, Basic Hazmat, Defensive Driving, and Accident Insurance.
