Center for Jewish History

The Center for Jewish History is a non-profit organization located in New York City. The Center employs 60 individuals and generates $50 million in annual revenue. The Center provides a collaborative space for five partner organizations: the American Jewish Historical Society, the American Sephardi Federation, the Leo Baeck Institute, the Yeshiva University Museum, and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research. Together, these organizations house the world’s largest collection of modern Jewish history materials outside of Israel, encompassing a thousand years of history. The Center's collections include over five miles of archival documents, more than 500,000 volumes, as well as artworks, textiles, ritual objects, recordings, films, and photographs. The Center specializes in unlocking archival materials for diverse audiences through digitalization, library science, and public education initiatives. They host fellowships, exhibitions, symposia, conferences, and lectures. Recognized as a leading research institution, the Center boasts facilities such as the Lillian Goldman Reading Room, Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute, the David Berg Rare Book Room, and the Collection Management & Conservation Wing.
