California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs

The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA) is a US-based governmental agency. It is a small organization with a staff of three employees. CAPIAA focuses on elevating the political, economic, and social issues of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs). They work with the Governor and Legislature, providing advice on how to best address the needs and concerns of these diverse communities. CAPIAA also acts as a liaison between the state government and AANHPI communities, disseminating information about programs that benefit their interests. A key part of CAPIAA's mission is to examine issues of access and cultural language sensitivity within state agencies and departments. They assist policymakers and state agencies in identifying the needs and issues of AANHPI communities, working to develop appropriate responses and programs.
