Bureau of Land Management

The Bureau of Land Management is a government agency based in Washington, District of Columbia, with a workforce of 6,277 employees. The Bureau of Land Management manages over 256 million surface acres, known as the National System of Public Lands, primarily located in 12 Western states including Alaska. This expansive land is used for a variety of purposes, including outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production. The Bureau also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate across the United States. The Bureau of Land Management is committed to sustaining the health and productivity of the public lands for present and future generations.
