Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras

The Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) is a non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. Established in 1958, BYSO has grown into one of the most respected arts organizations in Boston, employing 66 individuals and generating $50 million in annual revenue. BYSO offers a wide range of musical training and performance opportunities for students in grades K-12, including three full symphonic orchestras, a string training orchestra, six chamber orchestras, a preparatory wind ensemble, a chamber music program, and a nationally recognized string training program. Each year, BYSO auditions nearly 750 students from across New England, ages 7-18, selecting approximately 450 young musicians to participate in its programs. The organization is dedicated to providing high-quality coaching and performance opportunities in some of Boston's finest venues, culminating in 20 performances annually. Every other year, BYSO's most advanced ensemble embarks on an international tour.
