Blind Industries and Services of Maryland

Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit company based in Baltimore, Maryland. Established in 1908, BISM provides employment and training opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals of all ages. With over 600 associates, the company operates across multiple locations in Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C. BISM offers a range of programs and services designed to empower blind and visually impaired individuals. These include the CORE Program, a comprehensive residential program for adults, the SAIL Program for seniors, and summer residential programs for middle and high school students. Through these initiatives, BISM teaches essential life skills, fosters self-confidence, and prepares participants for various aspects of life, including family, education, and employment. Beyond training, BISM operates manufacturing facilities in Baltimore, Cumberland, Salisbury, and Raleigh, producing over 150 products. These include military uniforms, cleaning supplies, paper pads, and custom bottled water. BISM also owns and operates AbilityOne Base Supply Centers on federal installations.
