Black Teacher Collaborative

The Black Teacher Collaborative (BTC) is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. The organization is comprised of 12 employees and generates annual revenue of $2.5 million. BTC focuses on empowering Black educators to create enriching learning environments for Black children, recognizing the crucial role they play in fostering academic and socio-emotional growth. BTC provides a comprehensive program designed to enhance Black teacher effectiveness and impact. This program encompasses the development of innovative pedagogical approaches, professional development workshops, ongoing coaching, monthly blended learning modules, and culminating capstone projects. The three-year fellowship program guides educators in building the mindsets, skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed in shared racial identity learning environments (SRILE). A key feature of BTC's approach is its emphasis on shared racial identity learning. BTC develops and implements a unique curriculum focused on leveraging the shared experiences and cultural understanding of both teachers and students to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
