Birmingham Regional EMS System BREMSS

The Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Services System (BREMSS) is a component of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System. Governed by a board comprised of representatives from local governments, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and EMS provider groups, BREMSS serves a seven-county region in north-central Alabama. This region includes Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, St. Clair, Shelby, Walker, and Winston counties. BREMSS is dedicated to coordinating and enhancing pre-hospital emergency medical care within its seven-county service area. It collaborates extensively with various stakeholders in the Emergency Medical Services System, including over 200 EMS organizations, fifteen hospitals, more than 2500 EMS personnel, nine trauma centers, eleven stroke center hospitals, eight STEMI hospitals, over 80 municipalities, and numerous 911 agencies. BREMSS plays a vital role in ensuring the accessibility and quality of emergency medical services for the residents of its seven-county region.
