Big Ten

Big Ten is an association based in Des Plaines, Illinois. Founded in 1896, it is comprised of 14 member universities. The organization employs 110 people and generates $50 million in annual revenue. Big Ten's mission is to support student athletes competing in intercollegiate athletics while prioritizing academics. The association provides over $200 million in financial support to more than 9,500 students across 350 teams participating in 42 different sports. The Big Ten Conference sponsors 28 official sports, with 14 for men and 14 for women, including men's ice hockey and men's and women's lacrosse, which were added in 2013. Big Ten enforces a set of shared practices and policies that emphasize the values of integrity, fairness, and competitiveness.
