Appalachian Theatre

Appalachian Theatre is a nonprofit organization based in Boone, North Carolina. Established in 2012, the organization is dedicated to preserving and operating the historic Appalachian Theatre, a landmark built in 1938. Employing 19 people, Appalachian Theatre has an annual revenue of $1 million. The organization's mission is to restore and manage the historic theatre, providing a venue for a variety of performing arts events. Housed within the restored Art Deco building, the theatre features a 629-seat auditorium and a meeting room, hosting a diverse range of performances and events for both local residents and visitors to the High Country region. After an eight-year fundraising campaign and community effort, the $10 million renovation project was successfully completed. The theatre's reopening in October 2019 marked the revitalization of a beloved community landmark, ensuring its continued role as a cultural hub for the region.
