Anesthesia Quality Institute

The Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) is a non-profit organization based in Schaumburg, Illinois, with a staff of 50 individuals. Established in 2009 as an affiliate of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), AQI focuses on advancing quality management and patient safety within the field of anesthesiology. AQI develops and maintains seven registries of anesthesia cases and outcomes, serving as a valuable resource for anesthesiologists, practice groups, researchers, and professional societies. These registries allow for the submission of case information, enabling the analysis and improvement of patient care. AQI's mission is to provide anesthesiologists with the data they need to assess and enhance the quality of care they provide. The organization strives to be the primary source of information for quality improvement in anesthesiology, utilizing education and data feedback to enhance patient outcomes, expedite responses to critical incidents, and reduce anesthesia-related morbidity and mortality.
