Amazon Conservation Team

The Amazon Conservation Team® (ACT®), founded in 1996, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Arlington, Virginia. The organization employs 59 people and generates revenue of over $10,000. ACT is dedicated to preserving South American rainforests and empowering indigenous and local communities. Through its work, ACT supports sustainable land management practices, secure and sustainable livelihoods for communities, and strengthens their governance and cultural traditions. The organization focuses its efforts primarily in the northeast, northwest, and southeast Amazon regions, where it has established strong relationships with governments and local communities. ACT's three-pronged approach to conservation centers around land, livelihoods, and governance. They prioritize promoting sustainable land management and protection, supporting communities in building secure and sustainable livelihoods, and strengthening community governance and cultural traditions.
