Alzheimer Society of Washington

The Alzheimer Society of Washington, formerly known as Dementia Support Northwest, is a non-profit organization based in Bellingham, Washington. With a staff of four employees, the organization works tirelessly to support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related illnesses in Whatcom County. Dementia Support Northwest offers a range of services designed to educate, support, and empower those impacted by these challenging conditions. They provide Care Partner Support Groups for adults caring for loved ones with dementia, including a unique group that focuses on the well-being of both the caregiver and the person experiencing memory loss. The organization also hosts Staying Connected Memory Support Groups for adults newly diagnosed or experiencing mild memory impairment, as well as Adult Children Support Groups for those caring for a parent with dementia. In addition to these support groups, Dementia Support Northwest partners with the Whatcom County Sheriff's Department to operate the Find Me Safe Network. This innovative program utilizes electronic technology to assist in locating individuals with dementia who may wander.
