Allowance for Good

Allowance for Good is a non-profit organization based in Evanston, Illinois, with a team of 5 to 9 employees. The organization focuses on empowering young people through philanthropy and developing their capacity for impactful action in their communities. Allowance for Good's programs equip youth of all socioeconomic backgrounds with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to make a positive difference in the world. They guide young participants in understanding their philanthropic "portfolio" – time, talent, ties, or treasure – and demonstrate how giving can enrich both their communities and themselves. Through hands-on learning and guided experiences, participants gain insights into community assets and challenges, develop collaborative action skills, and ultimately engage in independent action to address issues they care about. The organization's programs facilitate youth engagement with social purpose organizations, broadening the representation of community members working to address local challenges and disparities.
