Alan M Voorhees Transportation Center

The Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) is a research center based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Center is comprised of 19 employees and operates within the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers. The VTC conducts research and develops innovative transportation policies focusing on national and regional issues. They offer training and education programs through the National Transit Institute, which was established by Congress in 1992 to support the U.S. transit industry. The Center's research encompasses a range of transportation topics. These include transportation and the built environment, transportation and social equity, and transportation finance and the economy. They also specialize in transportation security and evacuation planning, and the impact of transportation systems on energy consumption, air pollution, and global warming.
