Alamo Area Council of Governments

The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas, established in 1967. Located in San Antonio, Texas, AACOG is a voluntary association of local governments and organizations serving 13 counties and 12,582 square miles within the Alamo Area/State Planning Region 18. AACOG employs 229 individuals and generates approximately $40 million in annual revenue. AACOG provides a wide range of services to its member governments, including general technical assistance for planning functions, application preparation, and administration of area-wide programs. They also offer specialized technical assistance in areas such as aging services, economic development, 9-1-1 systems, homeland security, criminal justice, resource recovery, air quality, transportation, weatherization, and workforce development. Additionally, AACOG administers the Alamo Local Authority for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. AACOG distinguishes itself by responding to the specific needs of its member governments through tailored projects and initiatives.
