AKOM Ensemble

AKOM Ensemble is a new music ensemble based in Rotterdam, United States. Founded in 2013 by Jan Kuhr, the ensemble currently employs four people. AKOM Ensemble was initially created to give composers at Codarts Hogeschool voor de Kunsten the chance to write for and work directly with large ensembles. The ensemble's focus is on promoting collaboration between composers and performers. They aim to present concerts that inform and entertain audiences, often incorporating an educational element for both the performers and the audience. AKOM Ensemble works closely with composers, helping to establish a core repertoire of pieces specifically written for them. The ensemble believes in pushing the boundaries of traditional concert experiences. They are particularly interested in interactive performances that blur the lines between performers and audience.
