Aastha Parivaar

Aastha Parivaar is a registered non-profit organization based in the United States. It is comprised of 21 employees and generates an annual revenue of $2.5 million. The organization serves as an umbrella organization for various sex worker communities in Mumbai and Thane, India. Aastha Parivaar provides financial and administrative support to 13 community-based organizations (CBOs) working on the ground. These CBOs represent street-based, brothel-based, home-based, male sex workers, and hijra/transgender sex workers. Aastha Parivaar's support enables these diverse sex worker communities to advocate for their needs, address them, and build individual capacity. The organization focuses on a wide range of issues impacting sex workers, including family planning, health, human rights, crisis intervention, legal literacy, education, and alternative livelihood options for children. Sex workers actively participate in their development by leading their community's progress through elected governing boards and managing committees.
