A Childs Place

A Child's Place (ACP) is a non-profit organization based in Matthews, North Carolina. The organization employs 13 individuals. ACP focuses on providing critical support and referrals to children and families experiencing homelessness. Their mission is to mitigate the negative impacts of homelessness on children's education. ACP supports a new caseload each year, enrolling students and families experiencing homelessness and providing ongoing assistance throughout the academic year. ACP's multi-generational program model serves both students and their families. Student Advocates create individualized plans to ensure students remain in school, exhibit healthy behaviors, and achieve academic success while addressing their fundamental needs. Social Workers identify the families' needs and connect them with resources for employment, healthcare, food, domestic violence assistance, financial management, and housing, aiming to resolve the underlying issues contributing to homelessness.
