4th Reconnaissance Battalion USMC Reserve

4th Reconnaissance Battalion USMC Reserve is a United States Marine Corps reserve battalion based in Alameda, California. The battalion employs 13 individuals and is a subordinate unit of the 4th Marine Division and Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES). 4th Reconnaissance Battalion specializes in providing task-organized forces for a variety of reconnaissance and special operations missions. These missions include amphibious and ground reconnaissance, battlespace shaping, raids, and specialized insertion and extraction operations. The battalion's missions often involve observing and reporting enemy activity, conducting specialized surveying (underwater, beach permeability, routes, structures, etc.), infiltrating mission areas by surface, subsurface, and airborne means, conducting counter-reconnaissance, designating targets for engagement, and executing limited scale raids and ambushes. The Battalion is comprised of five companies: Headquarters and Service (San Antonio, TX), Bravo (Smyrna, GA), Charlie (San Antonio, TX), Delta (Albuquerque, NM), and Echo (Joliet, IL).
